Admission Requirements for INT. Students

Definitions

An international student refers to a student who is not a citizen or permanent resident of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Students with dual citizenship (including Bangladesh) are not considered as international students.

International student admission policy refers to the rules applicable to the international applicants and students of GUB with the status of international students.

Admission of International Students

Anyone having passport of a country that has diplomatic relations with Bangladesh can apply for admission at GUB. However, they need to meet admission requirements set below.

  1. Academic Sessions

    There are two semesters in each academic year. The duration of each semester is 4 months.

    • Spring: February to July
    • Fall: August to January

    International students are requested to contact the GUB admission office or int.ad@green.edu.bd at least 2 months prior to the starting date of a semester.

  2. Duration of the programs
    • Bachelor programs: All bachelor programs are 04 years duration.
    • Master programs: All master programs duration is from 01 year to 02 years based on credits hour.
  3. Minimum Admission Criteria

    The following minimum criteria apply to all international applicants seeking admission at GUB.

    • Undergraduate Admission Requirements

      Students particularly who come from other than O- or A-Level/equivalent exams should possess the followings:

      1. Must have 12 years of schooling for the undergraduate program with a minimum GPA 3.0 on a 5.0-point scale or equivalent
      2. For admission in BSc in CSE/BSc in Software Engineering/BSc in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science/ BSc in EEE/ BSc in Textile Engineering programs, students must have Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in A-Level or equivalent.
      3. Must have at least 50% marks or an equivalent grade in the above subjects of their own education system.
      4. Different departments may have some additional requirements.
      5. If the original copy of any record is written in a language other than English, a certified English translation is required to be sent along with.
    • Graduate Admission Requirements
      1. A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 on a 4.0-point scale or equivalent.
      2. If the original copy of any record is written in a language other than English, a certified English translation is required to be sent along with it.
      3. Must have at least 50% marks or an equivalent grade in the above subjects of their own education system.
      4. In addition to the above minimum criteria, each faculty/ school may set additional criteria or set higher test score requirements.
    • English proficiency for Undergraduate and Graduate Programs
      1. If the applicant’s previous medium of instruction is not English, TOEFL/IELTS scores may be required. The minimum acceptable score for IELTS 5.0 or TOEFL 500 (paper-based test) or 61 (Internet-based test). Otherwise, he/she have to take admission in English Proficiency Certificate Course offered by GUB.
      2. However, if international applicants appear for the GUB admission test and get an acceptable score, the above standardized test score requirements may be waived. Furthermore, applicants coming from English speaking countries shall be exempted from the English Language test requirements and applicants from non-English speaking countries who attended English medium education may be exempted from English Language test requirements based on their results.
  4. Financial Records

    The following documents have to be submitted with the application:

    • Last 3 months bank statement.
    • Bank solvency certificate.
    • Character certificates

    The bank statement and the solvency certificate might be either in the applicant’s name or in his/her parent/guardian’s name.

  5. Medical Records/Health Fitness Certificate

    An applicant must submit a recent health fitness report (particularly HIV, Hepatitis, Yellow fever/Ebola/Covid-19 etc. or any contagious diseases) to ensure his/her physical fitness.

  6. Medical Insurance

    The applicants need to show proof of medical health insurance in Bangladesh with sufficient coverage for sickness, accidents, critical diseases, hospitalization etc., when they register for admission. GUB may facilitate the process of insuring with prominent insurance companies in Bangladesh.

  7. Waiver, Scholarship and Financial Aid
    • Waiver Facilities Based on Previous Academic Results

      GPA/Results Requirements for 100% tuition fee waiver

      1. Interested candidates must have 90% marks in their SSC or 10-year schooling certificate and HSC or 12th-year high schooling certificate exams. Or Letter grade A1 or Excellence both in SSC or HSC or its equivalent examinations. OR
      2. Candidates who have passed the University of London and Cambridge GCE 'O' Level and 'A' Level examinations, only the best six subjects in 'O' Level and the best three subjects in 'A' Level will be considered for the scholarship.
      3. Out of these nine subjects, a candidate must have at least an A or GPA of 5.00 in the six subjects and a B or GPA of 4.00 in the remaining one subjects. (in the scale of A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2 and E=1. and
      4. For scholarship in BSc in CSE/BSc in Software Engineering/BSc in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science/ BSc in EEE/BSc in Textile Engineering Programs, candidates must achieve a GPA of 5.0 (on a scale of 5) in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in both their Secondary/Equivalent and Higher Secondary/Equivalent examinations. Candidates who have completed "O" Levels and "A" Levels must have attained an ‘A’ grade or GPA of 5.0 grade in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
      5. International students enrolled at GUB under this scholarship have to maintain a minimum SGPA of 3.75 on a scale of 4.00 throughout their academic journey, encompassing all semesters of study.
    • GPA/Results Requirements for 50% tuition fee waiver
      1. Interested candidates must have 80% marks in their SSC or 10-year schooling certificate and HSC or 12th-year high schooling certificate exams. Or Letter grade A or Very Good both in SSC or HSC or its equivalent examinations. OR
      2. Candidates who have passed the University of London and Cambridge GCE 'O' Level and 'A' Level examinations, only the best five subjects in 'O' Level and the best two subjects in 'A' Level will be considered for the scholarship.
      3. Out of these seven subjects, a candidate must have at least an A or GPA of 5.00 in the four subjects and a B or GPA of 4.00 in the remaining three subjects. (in the scale of A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2 and E=1. and
      4. For scholarship in BSc in CSE/BSc in Software Engineering/BSc in EEE/BSc in Textile Engineering Programs, candidates must achieve a GPA of 5.0 (on a scale of 5) or 80% marks in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in both their Secondary/Equivalent and Higher Secondary/Equivalent examinations. Candidates who have completed "O" Levels and "A" Levels must have attained a ‘B’ grade or GPA of 4.0 grade in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
      5. International students enrolled at GUB under this scholarship have to maintain a minimum SGPA of 3.50 on a scale of 4.00 throughout their academic journey, encompassing all semesters of study.
    • GPA/Results Requirements for 25% tuition fee waiver
      1. Interested candidates must have 50% marks in their SSC or 10-year schooling certificate and HSC or 12th-year high schooling certificate exams. Or Letter grade B or Good both in SSC or HSC or its equivalent examinations or GPA 2.50 or above on a scale of 5.00/4.00. or
      2. Candidates must have passed the University of London and Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level in at least five subjects and ‘A’ Level in at least two subjects. Only the best five subjects in the ‘O’ Level and the best two subjects in the ‘A’ Level will be considered.
      3. Out of these seven subjects, a candidate must have at least a B or GPA of 4.00 in the four subjects and a C or GPA of 3.5 in the remaining one subject. (in the scale of A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2 and E=1
      4. For admission to BSc in CSE, BSc in EEE, and BSc in Textile Engineering programs, students must have had Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics with satisfactory scores in HSC/A-Level or equivalent level.
      5. International students enrolled at GUB under this scholarship have to maintain a minimum SGPA of 3.00 on a scale of 4.00 throughout their academic journey, encompassing all semesters of study.
    • Scholarships based on Semester Results at GUB
      1. Scholarship is given to the students of Undergraduate Programs on the basis of merit in each trimester. Undergraduate students can avail the following scholarship based on their previous semester Results at GUB.
Admission Eligibility for Different Programs
General admission requirements for undergraduate programs
  1. Admission requirements for B.Sc in Computer Science & Engineering/ Electrical and Electronic Engineering/ Textile Engineering:
    • The candidates who have at least 2nd division or a minimum GPA of 2.5 or an equivalent grade separately in SSC and HSC or in equivalent public examinations with Mathematics & Physics may apply for admission. However, if the candidate has a minimum GPA of 2.0 in either of these examinations, his/her cumulative GPA of the two examinations must be at least 6.0.
    • S/he must have passed at least 5 subjects in the O-Levels and at least 2 subjects in the A-Levels examinations. In these two examinations, the candidate must have a minimum GPA of 4.0 or grade ‘B’ in 4 of the 7 subjects and a GPA of at least 3.5 or grade ‘C’ in the rest.
  2. Admission requirements for Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)/ B.A Hon’s in English/ LL.B Hon’s/ BSS in Sociology:
    • S/he must have at least 2nd division or a minimum GPA of 2.5 or an equivalent grade separately in SSC and HSC or in equivalent public examinations. However, if the candidate has a minimum GPA of 2.0 in either of these examinations, his/her cumulative GPA of the two examinations must be at least 6.0.
    • S/he must have passed at least 5 subjects in the O-Levels and at least 2 subjects in the A-Levels examinations. In these two examinations, the candidate must have a minimum GPA of 4.0 or grade ‘B’ in 4 of the 7 subjects and a GPA of at least 3.5 or grade ‘C’ in the rest.
  3. Admission requirement for BSS (Hons) in Journalism & Media Communication:
    • A candidate for BSS (Hons) in Journalism & Media Communication must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 separately in SSC/O-Level and HSC/A-Level or equivalent public examinations.
    • General Admission requirements for graduate programs (Like MBA, MBM)
    • A candidate for the graduate program must have a minimum GPA of 2.00 in the bachelor’s degree, provided s/he has the academic qualifications for undergraduate programs as mentioned above.
