Successful observation of Independence Day-2024

We are happy to share that Independence Day 2024 has been observed with great gravity and some fascinating events. The whole program has divided into two phases such as:

1. Visiting various events organized on the occasion of Independence Day: This sequence started with welcoming our Chief Guest Heroic Freedom Fighter, Pratap Shankar Hazra, at 10 a.m. Our Honorable Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Khawza Iftekhar Uddin Ahmed, paid the welcome greetings to the Chief Guest with flowers. The Honorable Chief Guest, along with the Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Honorable Registrar, and all dignitaries, inaugurated the sports segment and visited all the events, such as volleyball, carom, and ludo. Afterwards, the final round of the debate competition was performed, and everyone enjoyed it with great amusement.

2. Discussion Session: The discussion session started at 11:00 a.m. with the recitation of the Holy Quran and the singing of the National Anthem. After that, the Honorable Registrar delivered the welcome remarks in the spirit of the day. Mr. Mostofa Monon, President, GUB Alumni Association, delivered his words emphasizing keeping the spirit of the day and making the nation corruption-free. Then, Professor Dr. Saiful Azad, Dean, FSE, showed the latest comparison between our country and Pakistan and how far ahead we are from the current position of Pakistan through his informative viewpoints. The Honorable Special Guest Professor Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir, former Vice-Chancellor, GUB, delivered a spectacular speech on the significance of the day. The Honorable Special Guest also encouraged all of us to transform the spirit of liberation into building up Smart Bangladesh. After that, a stunning poetry recitation was performed by the Honorable Chairperson of the Department of Law, Dr. Md. Arifuzzaman. Then the Honorable Chief Guest shared his experience during the liberation war and the role of the independent Bengali football team. He urged the newcomers to step out and help create a nation free from corruption, energized by the spirit of freedom. He said, “It is not possible to become a good citizen only with the spirit of the Liberation War. Education from parents is also necessary for this.” He also said, “Even after five decades of independence, we have not been able to eradicate corruption from the country. Hopefully, our next generation can do it.

Finally, the Honorable President of the program, Prof. Dr. Khawza Iftekhar Uddin Ahmed, Vice Chancellor, extended his valuable remarks on the spirit of the day to us. The Honorable President said, “Freedom is a priceless asset, which we achieved under the leadership of the Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. We have to move forward as a nation by making full use of this achievement. 

At the end of the discussion session, a prize-giving ceremony was held to distribute the prizes among the winners in different segments such as Wall-writing, Debate, Quiz, Volleyball, Carrom and Ludo.
