The Office of Admissions at Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) serves as the gateway for prospective students, guiding them through the application process with clarity and efficiency. Committed to inclusivity and academic excellence, the office ensures that all applicants receive equal opportunity to join GUB's diverse learning community. From initial inquiries to final enrollment, the Office of Admissions supports students in understanding entry requirements, deadlines, financial aid options, and program offerings, while promoting the university's core values of integrity, innovation, and social responsibility.
The University follows a dual academic system consisting of the Trimester System and the Bisemester System. All academic programs are conducted under the Trimester System, except the programs offered by the Department of Law, which follows the Bisemester System. The duration of each trimester semester is four (4) months, while the duration of each bisemester semester is six (6) months.
Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) is committed to maintaining high academic standards and providing equal opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds. The university's admission process is designed to be fair, transparent, and inclusive, ensuring that all prospective students meet the necessary academic qualifications while aligning with GUB's values of integrity and social responsibility. Applicants are evaluated based on their academic performance, eligibility criteria, and, where applicable, additional considerations such as financial waivers for specific groups, including female students, ethnic minorities, and students with disabilities.
The admission rules are briefly categorized as follows:
This section elaborates the guidelines related to admission of local students in undergraduate programs of GUB. It is prepared based on the existing practices and a policy, named Undergraduate and Graduate Admission Requirements.
Specific Requirement for Faculty of Science and Engineering: Only the students with the science background in HSC or equivalent examinations are allowed to get admission in the science and engineering programs.
Pursuing postgraduate studies offers students the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skill set, making them more competitive in the job market. A postgraduate degree from Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) provides continuous higher education while fostering the development of scientific, professional, and analytical skills. It prepares students to face future challenges by encouraging creativity, critical thinking, and innovation. GUB is committed to contributing to national development by providing a center of excellence in higher education that responds to the evolving needs of society.
We encourage qualified and competent students, who are aiming for a bright career, to apply for admission at GUB. For this purpose, applicants are required to submit an online application form following the guidelines below:
After submitting the online application form, all prospective students of Green University of Bangladesh must appear for an admission test prior to enrollment in their chosen programs.
However, applicants who have obtained a combined GPA of 7.00 or above in SSC and HSC examinations are exempted from the admission test for all programs.
Applicants with a combined GPA below 7.00 are required to appear for the admission test and viva voce as part of the selection process.
Applicants who qualify in the admission test for their respective programs will be called for a viva voce (interview) as part of the final selection process.
In addition, for getting admission in the Faculty of Science and Engineering programs, a candidate should have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics with satisfactory scores in HSC/A-Level/equivalent examination. Conversely, a candidate who did not study Mathematics or failed in Mathematics (being an optional course) at HSC/A-level/equivalent examination must have to sit for the admission test. Generally, three admission tests will be conducted per semester. The Admission Office of GUB will conduct these tests with the help of the respective faculties. However, the number of admission tests may vary depending upon the number of applicants. Each admission test will be conducted with a completely new set of question papers. The respective departments will be responsible for preparing the admission test question papers and checking the answer scripts.
However, due to ongoing construction work and heavy traffic conditions on the adjacent road, the admission test is currently being conducted on an immediate and/or one-to-one basis prior to enrollment. This temporary arrangement has been introduced under unavoidable circumstances, as the construction activities have not yet been fully completed.
The University has adopted this measure solely to ensure the continuity of admission activities and to facilitate the convenience of prospective students. Upon completion of the construction work and improvement of the surrounding road conditions, the University will resume its regular admission test process as per the established schedule.
An Admission Committee headed by the Vice-Chancellor determines the criteria for selecting students. At present, following criteria are set for selecting a student who has attended the admission test:
Once a candidate is selected, the following documents need to be submitted during the time of the admission:
To ensure a certain level of English proficiency among newly admitted students across various programs at GUB, an elementary-level English course is offered centrally. However, students who meet the following criteria will be exempted from this course:
A student, willing to transfer his/her credits from other Government and UGC approved Universities or institutions to GUB must fulfill the general admission requirements of the intended program. The student must apply in a prescribed form through the Admission Office of GUB to the Chairperson of the intended department of GUB along with the Official Academic Transcripts issued from the previous institution, course curriculum, detail syllabus, and NOC (no objection certificate).
The Credit Equivalence Committee of the department headed by the Chairperson will forward the application along with the academic transcript to the Credit Equivalence Committee (CEC) with a recommendation of acceptance of credits completed. Note that the credit equivalence and acceptance for admission will be governed by the Credit Equivalence policy of GUB. However, a concise detail of the policy is mentioned in the subsequent section.
An application form, called "Credit Equivalence Application Form" is available at the admission office of GUB. An applicant needs to collect and fill up the required information and submit it to the admission office for further processing. The admission office will process based on the completed credit information (original official transcript) and documentation submitted by the student. The application will be signed by the student and countersigned by an Admission Officer.
Afterwards, it will be forwarded for further processing to the Chairperson of the department. According to the recommendation of the Credit Equivalence Committee of the department headed by the Chairperson, it will be presented to the Credit Equivalence Committee of the University by the office of the Controller of Examinations. Once approved, the final records will be updated in the software system and declared by them. This process is deemed complete once the accepted credits are included under the portal of the student in the software system.
Candidates with a break of study of not more than five years may apply for direct admission. Candidates with a break of study of more than five years will have to apply before admission.
At Green University, the admission fee is non-refundable. Once a student has been admitted, the admission fee will not be eligible for a refund, even in cases where the student cancels their admission.
Students must obtain permission from their academic advisor or the Dean of the Faculty to add or drop courses. Without penalty, students may add or drop a course in the second week and with penalty they may do so in the third week from the class commencement date in each semester. The amount of penalty will be announced by the Office of the Registrar.
A student who wishes to withdraw from all courses must submit an application to the Office of the Registrar before the end of the second week from the class commencement date. The withdrawal date is considered official once the Registrar signs the withdrawal form. If a student leaves the university without officially withdrawing, they will receive a failing grade (F) in all registered courses. No tuition fee adjustment will be made unless the withdrawal is formally reported to the Office of the Registrar. After the second week, any student who withdraws will also receive an F grade in all registered courses.

All previously granted waivers, scholarships, or financial assistance (including those from the Self-Contributory Welfare Fund) will be cancelled, and the student must repay the exact percentage of benefits enjoyed during their study at GUB before the credit transfer is approved.
