Green University and West Visayas State University Hold Strategic Meeting to Operationalize Partnership

Green University Center for International Affairs (GCiA) recently convened an online bilateral coordination meeting with the Office of International Affairs and Public Affairs & Linkages Office at West Visayas State University (WVSU), Philippines, marking a key step forward in strengthening global academic ties.

The session was hosted by Dr. Md. Elham Hossain, Director of GCiA, alongside the GCiA team, with Dr. Diosdedet Labordo, Director of the Public Affairs and Linkages Office, representing West Visayas State University. Founded in 1902, WVSU is a premier public research university in Iloilo City, operating across a main campus and six external campuses (including Lambunao), with twelve colleges offering 98 academic programs to over 6,000 students.

Strategic Roadmap and Collaborative Initiatives

The primary objective of the session was to outline a structured action plan to operationalize the recently executed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between both institutions.

During the meeting, leadership from both sides agreed on several key collaborative actions:

  • Faculty Exchange Programs: Launching short-term faculty exchange opportunities between GUB and WVSU starting in the upcoming semester.

  • Adjunct Faculty Engagement: Appointing distinguished faculty members from WVSU as adjunct professors at Green University.

  • Joint Academic Webinars: Hosting collaborative webinars on Research Methodology featuring expert speakers from both institutions.

  • Conference Collaboration: Delegating keynote speakers, session chairs, moderators, and resource persons for international conferences hosted by either university.

  • COIL Program Rollout: Implementing a Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) initiative connecting the Departments of English at GUB and WVSU.

  • Ongoing Program Review: Establishing a biannual online meeting schedule to review progress and ensure sustained momentum across all joint projects.

This engagement reinforces Green University’s ongoing commitment to expanding international cooperation, fostering cross-border academic sharing, and opening global avenues for both faculty and students.
