The Department of English, in collaboration with the English Club, hosted a landmark celebration of creativity and scholarship on April 26, 2026. The event served as a dual platform for the visual and literary arts, featuring an expansive Art Exhibition followed by the official unveiling of the translation magazine, Logic, Rhetoric, Silence (Volume 2).
The department came alive with a vibrant display of more than 50 original artworks, showcasing the diverse creative visions of our students. This exhibition provided a professional stage for young artists to translate their thoughts into visual narratives, ranging from traditional sketches to modern conceptual pieces.
To honour the spirit of participation, all contributors were recognised with certificates. The program concluded its competitive segment by awarding special prizes and recognition to the top three outstanding paintings, selected for their exceptional technique and creative depth.
A primary highlight of the occasion was the official launch of the department’s prestigious annual translation magazine, Logic, Rhetoric, Silence. The unveiling of Volume 2 marks a significant milestone in the department’s mission to foster translation studies and literary engagement. By providing a scholarly outlet for multilingual creativity, the magazine continues to strengthen the department's digital and print footprint in the field of humanities.
The event was honoured by the presence of eminent leaders and cultural figures who offered their insights and encouragement:
Distinguished Guest of Honour: The renowned "Poet of Photography," Nasir Ali Mamun, whose presence added a profound artistic dimension to the ceremony.
Chief Guest: Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shorif Uddin, Honourable Vice Chancellor, who commended the students for their multidisciplinary talents and intellectual vigour.
Special Guests: Prof. Dr. Khwaza Iftekhar Uddin Ahmed, Honourable Pro Vice Chancellor, and Prof. Dr. M. Shahidullah, Honourable Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, both of whom praised the initiative for bridging the gap between creativity and academia.
The proceedings were chaired by Dr. Md. Shamim Mondol, Chairperson of the Department of English, whose guidance and leadership ensured the successful execution of this multifaceted program.
The day concluded with a deep sense of community and pride. The Department of English extends its heartfelt thanks to the organisers, faculty members, and guests whose collective efforts transformed these artistic and literary goals into a reality. This event stands as a testament to the department's commitment to nurturing the "whole scholar"—one who is as articulate with a brush as they are with a pen.
