Green University’s Pitha Festival: A Celebration of Tradition and Unity

Green University of Bangladesh held its vibrant Pitha Festival 2025 at its campus in the Purbachal American City on Tuesday, February 11. The event was a grand celebration of traditional Bengali sweets and an occasion for students, faculty, and staff to come together in a spirit of unity.The festival was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor of Green University, Professor Dr. Mohammad Sharif Uddin, who praised the event as an excellent way to preserve and promote Bengali cultural traditions. Also present were the University’s Pro-Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Khaja Iftakhar Uddin Ahmed, and Registrar Captain (Navy) (Retd.) Sheikh Mohammad Salahuddin.Throughout the day, numerous stalls were set up by students from various departments, offering a wide array of traditional pithas, or Bengali sweets. The diverse selection included bhapa puli, dudh puli, jhinuk, patisapta, jamai sohagi, golap, chitai, payesh, pudding, tel pitha, dudh chitai, phul pitha, khir, mutha pitha, ros golap, and cakes, among others—over fifty types of pitha in total.The festival not only showcased the rich culinary traditions of Bangladesh but also turned the campus into a vibrant melting pot of culture and community bonding. The attendees, including students, teachers, and staff, thoroughly enjoyed sampling the delicious treats and celebrating together.The event was a great success, reflecting the university's commitment to nurturing a sense of belonging and cultural appreciation among its diverse community. With 18 stalls set up by the students, the Pitha Festival proved to be a delightful occasion, bringing everyone together in the spirit of celebration and unity.
