Freshers Orientation Program – Summer 2025

Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) arranged Orientation Program for Freshers’ of Summer Semester 2025 on (June 22, 2025) at the university's Campus located at Purbachal American City, Rupganj.

Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shorif Uddin, Vice Chancellor of Green University presided over the program while Deputy Head of Public Relations and Cultural Affairs of the Japanese Embassy, Yamamoto Kyohel was present as chief guest. Among others Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Khawza Iftekhar Uddin Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Professor Dr. Md. Shahidullah, Distinguished Professor and Chairperson of the Textile Department Dr. Nitai Chandra Sutradhar, and Registrar Captain (Navy) Sheikh Mohammad Salahuddin (Retd.) spoke in the program.

In presidential speech, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Mohammad Sharif Uddin welcomed the students to Green University. He said, the purpose of university education is not just to earn a degree, but to prepare oneself to contribute meaningfully to society and the state. He urged students to seek support from their departmental teachers or the administration whenever they face any problems. He emphasized that Green University aims to help its graduates reach a place where they can confidently take on responsibilities and hold their heads high.

Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Khawza Iftekhar Uddin Ahmed highlighted the importance of acquiring knowledge along with developing skills and appropriate behavior. He noted that these attributes are necessary for becoming a complete human being over the next four years. He also emphasized the need to acquire modern competencies to meet future challenges.

Chief guest Mr. Yamamoto Kyohel stated that networking is one of the most vital aspects of university life. Through networking, students can build valuable connections with friends, teachers, and the job market. He also stressed the importance of consistency, as a lack of it may lead to academic failure. He urged students to remain focused on their studies.

Distinguished Professor and Chairperson of the Textile Department Dr. Nitai Chandra Sutradhar remarked that while academics are crucial, students should also actively engage in extracurricular activities, particularly through various university clubs. He advised students never to give up, stating that perseverance and struggle are at the heart of human life.

Following the discussion session, each department organized its own freshers’ reception program for their students. Later, members of the Green University Cultural Club presented a vibrant cultural performance in the presence of the new students and other attendees.
